An IBCLC is trained in the clinical management of breastfeeding. They work with families to help breastfeeding get off to a good start through education, and they troubleshoot issues that can come up throughout the breastfeeding journey.
An IBCLC is an advocate who works to raise awareness of breastfeeding as a normal physiological process.
An IBCLC is a internationally-recognised professional who is obliged to work according to the IBLCE Code of Professional Conduct, must recertify every 5 years and has undergone 1000 hours of clinical expereince and at least 90 hours of training before sitting the exam.
